A customer came to me looking a a replacement for a in the counter cutting board for her mother. Here is what I built for her. Strips are made from Walnut and Cherry with a Cherry front that matches her kitchen cabinets. The Cutting Board measures 21” x 13 1/2”. Since my planner is only 13 wide I had to do it in 2 sections and join it after. The individual strips are cut each 1/32” wider than the last. You can’t see it in the pictures but there is a hand hold routed out on the bottom side for sliding it out of the cabinet. She was very pleased with the result.

That is a very impressive piece. Visually very stimulating and also balanced. over time it will be even better as it’s beatified by the patina of her tomatoes and onions and carrots and beets getting diced on that surface. Can you describe your process?

Very nice, I really like the effect of the stripes. This would be great for a desktop writing inset kind of thing, great inspiration.
