When we remodeled this old house, I wanted to use a lot of knotty pine. Just because I like it. Our bedroom is pretty small and we wanted a closet at the foot of the bed. Since it was to be my closet( Careen’s is in the other room), I decided to do a buildin next to the main closet; a large chest of drawers on the bottom and the top for a linen closet. I built 4 large drawers from 1/2 birch ply and mounted them on euro slides. The main closet is to the right of these doors. These doors are 84 inches tall and 36 wide including the frame. The frames are pine and the panels are 1/4 inch birch ply.I like to remember all the good times I had while I was guideing hunters in the wilderness areas of Wyoming. I’m afraid I’m too stoved up now but it sure was fun. The rabbit just had to be there.
I had to put in the Tetons.

No Lee, but it used to be. Those are the Tetons in Western Wyoming, Jackson Hole. I’ve worked out of there several times. The latest being the summer of 2004 when I was steer boss for Snake River Ranch. that’s when this photo was taken.

Really great, Tom. You have an artistic eye and wonderful design sense. I really like the way the aspens extend beyond the lower door rails and the casework. That really ties the doors together. I can’t draw a lick, so I envy your ability. Thanks for sharing this.

Great work, Tom. I am a Colorado native and sometimes I sure miss the high country. I don’t miss shoveling snow or driving in it, so I live in SE Arizona now. Love that wood burning! I bet your leather carving is spectacular, too.
BTW, I know that Neat Lac is not the same as wood shellac. I just could not remember what the correct name is….LOL
Keep up the beautiful work!
God Bless,
Hawg

Very nice Tom, gifted. Such detail on the stag (is it a stag ?) I can’t draw but would love try someday on a project. I love birch but can’t get much here, what is the finish – the glow is eye catching.

Thomas,
Beautiful work! It must be that view that inspires it.

Jembo, That is the North American Wapiti, better known as an Elk. They are similar to Red Deer and what I think you call a Stag. The finish is just shellac with waterbase over it.
Yeah, Tom, I miss Those old mountains sometimes.
Debbie, I wish I could but it’s always dark when I get out of bed and I hardly ever see the doors.
thanks for the interest, guys( and you too MsDebbie
