I built this toy crane as Christmas gift for my nephews. It’s from plans in Wood magazine issue 185. It’s the first time I have done a toy – lots of fun. It only took about 3 nights too complete. The wood is walnut and hard maple. I recommend the plan if you are looking for a unique toy.

I like that :-)) Fantastic job!! I can see that in my grandsons future. What does it swivel on, a lazy susan bearing?

Yes – it uses a lazy susan for the swivel. I think on the next one I’ll use a router to recess the bottom plate of the lazy susan into the base. The plan does not call for it but I think it will look a little cleaner.

I will probably make it with a screw through a hole to swivel. Might add a truck cab. Just the other day I found 30 -1 1/2” hardwood wheels for $2-3 on ebay:-))

This is really cool! I may follow-up by building one for Santa Claus to deliver…

Very nice work Darrell. Funny, I just got done building an excavator from the latest issue of wood magazine for my Nephew.
