Walnut Burl/ Curly Maple Chest

Project by jjraybur posted 32 days ago 706 views 9 times favorited 25 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This chest will most likely be used as a toy box for my son. He’s only one so we’ll see how long it actually looks decent! Made from curly maple with walnut burl veneered panels.

careful, if his toy box is this nice…. you might begin to consider what he’ll expect for his first car!

That is wonderful! I love the lines of the curves.

Very nice indeed. It’ll take him a few years (maybe 20 or 30) to appreciate it!

Do you have those special hinges that will stop the lid from slamming on his fingers?

Excellent everything. I just get nervous around sharp corners where kids are concerned. I’ve had to round over all of my designs to accommodate recipients having small children. But, beautiful none the less.

I wouldn’t let my kid touch something that nice, much less use it as a toybox. Figured Walnut and maple are for me, Rubbermaid for her. And in case I sound like a horrible parent, my daughter is quite spoiled, trust me.

A great design and the walnut top is great. Did you make the veneer for the panels.

Really beautiful design and build. I think PKnight is right. He’s gonna want a Lamborghini for his first car after starting with this toy box.
