Hi all…
Just joined and thought I’d post what I just finished. This is only my second piece I’ve completed. Found an old tractor seat that my father-in-law’s Amish neighbor had hanging in the barn. Cleaned it up and painted it and build this stool under it.
Legs are Red Oak. Rails are Padauk. BeadLock loose tenons used. Affixing the seat to the stool was the most challenging, and I did not like how it turned out. The original plan was to have a T-Nut support the seat. But under body weight the t-nut rocked right out when one shifted weight. Went with a bar-stool swivel I found on line, but attaching it is ugly. Oh well… it is a tractor seat. It is supposed to be somewhat ugly and utilitarian!

Cool looking stool. I could use something like this at my scroll saw.

There are some people around these parts who need a seat like that on their stool!
Nice work … clever idea.

It’s a cool design, nothing wrong with the seat swivel. The last thing you’d want is, someone starring down at their crouch saying “nice”,” this thing is so cool”.
