this is a project for a young boy who will soon be living in alaska, ive made him a truck…a trailer with a tilting tail gate and a float plane modeled after a dehaveland beaver, a work horse of a plane up there…so all three are done..there all made from antique southern heart pine, oak, walnut , mahogany, dogwood, red cedar…and there is even some red bud i used for one of the axle blocks…..so a wide variety of wood used…i have loved doing this project..its made me feel like a kid again..i know the grandfather of this boy, and he will help him learn how to use his imagination with these toys…..i think its possible that our children today are loosing that ability over the electronic age…..and will be a bad thing to happen…..so thanks for looking at my toyful fun …grizzman

Great job Mr Grizz {:o)} ! The trailer & plane will come in handy in Alaska thats for sure.
Maybe he can fly me in to some of my favorite fishing lakes…
Just a thought how about a snow plow for the front of the truck? that way nothing will stop him from getting to Work.
I sure wish I had something this nice when I was a kid .
Thanks for posting this it has already brought the kid out in me .

Matt you need to train them right…..just get them a dump truck…paint it pink and put a Barbie doll in as driver…it will work…then casually change the color…get a male driver…..its in the technique…i had all boys..so i cant guarantee my training suggestion….lol…so this is a disclaimer as well….lol

Grizz, that is an absolutely awesome setup!!
I’m from the erector set and Lincoln Log generation, so I know what you mean about creativity, but … my guess … this little boy is going to spend hours just looking at this setup before he even goes wheels-down!
The stacks, the bits and pieces of hardware, the tires, the burn for the windshield of the plane … all of the detail … is just beautiful!
Plus … it looks like a Hollywood casting director auditioned for what species of wood should play which part.
Your pics also taught me another important lesson: good cooks keep a LOT of stuff in their fridge and in their pantry. Good ww’s, too, should build up a pretty good stock of wood.
Lucky kid….

Great looking toys and I like the shop. I was begining to believe after looking at all the shop pictures that mine was the only won that had wood stacked every where.
