This is a rose made of aspen. I decide to use this kind of wood for is pliability instead of maple I usually used for my project. I’ve sliced thin layers of wood and then soak in hot water for about 30 seconds. After I dried it only on surface,I glued it in the shape. To maintain the shape, I’ve wrap the part with few turn of sewing thread. After it dried I airbruh it with a bright red. The leaf are made with the same technique. No finish was used on the flower.

This is my first try, the only this I don’t really like about it is the base of the flower. The next one will be much better.

It took me only few hour to make it (I’ve started it febuary 13th and I give it on valentine’s day!!!)

A good start.
Have you thought about using shavings from a hand plane for the petals, I believe they are much easier to manipulate.
Thaqnks for sharing.
