She’s a fellow “Yarnie” (one who is obsessed with/loves yarn) and this is a SWIFT… a tool for holding yarn while it is being transferred to a ball or a skein… whatever. The pegs are the holders. If I am correct, this whole thing might spin around. =]

Really nice work Kate. I like the antique look to it too. Maybe the day job should be crafting works of art like this? I know, easier said than done.
