textured and burnt rim bowl

this is a piece of africian mahogany it is 2 inchs thick, 12 inchs across, the bowl is about 7 inchs across ,1 inch deep. the rim is textured and then burnt with a propane torch, finished with tungoil and beeswax.

Interesting…. What did you use for a texture tool. From here it looks like maybe a dremmel. Torching certainly adds to the effect:

As said; this is an interesting technique, but not one I would be interested in doing for myself. For my eye, this form does not do a thing. Just my opinion.

Very nice turning. The edge is a very interesting touch. The texturing adds a lot of flair to the piece.

Well done in the arbotech web site there are a cuple of videos about how to texture and burn from diferents artists,quite good to wach how many of them make their pieces
