This is sycamore and is 11” x 7” and finished with dye and lacquer. I have admired trifern’s turnings for so long I thought I would try one of the dyed pieces. I know it is not up to his level but I am happy how it turned out and will do more of these types of pieces. Thanks for looking.

I like the shape and color , but are all of the tooling marks part of the design ?

I had to make some adjustments in the shape and the black dye had soaked all the way through. When I straightend up the top it left little lines so they became design elements at that point.

Your shape turn out extremely nice, in time you’ll get the hang on fine tuning the prep work but for your first turn it show that you have what it takes. The color is very rich looking and the finish is first rate. I hope Joe take a look and adds his comments. Good luck and thanks for posting…Blkcherry

Thanks for the comments. This is my third Hollow Form and it shows but with time I hope to get it right. Overall im happy with it. The colors I used were black then red and finally yellow I pretty much followed Joes how-to.

Nicely done, I have yet to use a dye, care to elaborate on the process?
Thanks,
