I was asked by a friend to turn a rose wood blank that he got long time ago.The result came, as you see, very nice and he was very happy with it. About 30 c m in diameter and 5 cm high. WHO says Sam turns only segmented wood?

That is what I was wondering, Sam? Awfully simple for you ;-) Nice work.

Sam, it’s lovely. But isn’t a “flat bowl” usually called a “plate?” And, about the thumbnail photo: It’s upside-down. Do you eat off the bottom of the plate/bolw/dish down there? There’s so much about your part of the world that I don’t know.
I was just thinking of you this evening, Sam. I saw something that reminded me of your ribbons.

Mark Wilson, I know about the second photo. It is not a mistake, it is there to show you the bottom side. I live in Down Under, anyway, everything is upside down here. AND call it whatever you like. I call it bowl because it could be used for fruits but never as a plate. Thanks for commenting.

Hi Sam, maybe you do not know whether you are “guilty” I was hooked on segmented turning …
Your dish is, of course, masterfully made

Very nice flat bowl Sam , can just see it full of fruit. Can see why your friend was happy with the bowl.

Sam, that is beautiful. Lovely piece of timber and I love the shape.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.
