I enjoyed the previous hummingbird enough that I decided to make another one, this time with a few more colors.
The hummingbird is made from Alder (white), Western Red Cedar (tail and top of head), Walnut (body, feet, and beak), Padauk (throat), and Sycamore (wing).
The flowers are all made from Padauk (petals), and Western Red Cedar (stems).
The project is mounted on a piece of 1/4 Baltic Birch plywood and hung with a few brass eye-hooks and brass chain.

I really like this! Beautiful! Do you work from a plan or maybe an image from a coloring book? I would LOVE to give this a try!

recycle1943 – My wife and I lived out in Arizona for a while while I was getting the letters in front of my name. We had them all year round, and really enjoyed watching them as well.

BurlyBob – Thanks for the compliment! I’m really enjoying the piece as well, it’s hanging on the wall behind my computer screen right now. :)

Jeffswildwood – All of the Intarsia pieces that I have made except for the golden retriever were from patterns by Judy Gale Roberts. This particular pattern is from a book that she put out titled “Intarsia – Artistry in Wood 12 Projects for Every Occasion”.
I’m still learning and perfecting on these pieces, if you want to see someone else on here that is really good but has a slightly different style look up justoneofme. Her projects are really amazing!
