Project Information

This was the first time I have ever jumped into freehand carving. and most people thought I was an idiot for choosing Purple heart, padauk, Mahogany, and White Oak, but I figure why not go all in. I learn best by jumping in (often at the deep end)

Most of the carving was done with a 3MM bench chisel and a small gouge from my great grand father. I ended up buying a carving knife as well.

I started laminating all the layers with matching grain direction but both of the pieces of Padauk had reversing grain so that made it kind of fun.

It is finished with a wipe on poly.

In the end I learned more then I expected, but I ended up with more then I expected to.
Here is a build video I put together to show the whole build.
