Great figure for that axe, sharp body design, too many strings for my fingers though! (I play 4 string bass).
I’d love to hear a sound sample of that thing…

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

I agree. In addition to being addictive, this site will also push you to finish your projects and to do different types of woodworking.
That’s the most beautiful guitar I’ve seen in a long time. My son plays fretless base and I’ve been thinking that one of the Grizzly guitar kits might be a good place to start on his Christmas gift.

The guitar is gorgeous. I love the grain and coloration of the maple.

The burl is beautiful. I also think the quirky shape is just fantastic.

Fantastic guitar. I love the wood—Totally Awesome! Do you play bass. I have 3 5-strings and 2 4—Strings. Never played a 6-Sting before.
What kind of electronics are in it? I’ll bet it sounds as good as it looks.
Thanks for sharing.

I don’t know the particulars. Pete used my wood but I don’t know anything else about it except I can look at it all day long. The electric LP is mine and I love it. Don’t know how to play bass.

FYI (since playing bass is my other, older passion): Pete Skjold has some pretty well respected basses in the online bass playing community. Lots of good players have him pegged as one of the more talented up and coming luthiers in the custom/boutique bass market. If you LJ’s want to see some other absolutely wild bass guitars (from a wood/finishing perspective), check out Keith Roscoe and ESPECIALLY Jens Ritter.

You are right! I cant wait to get mine from Pete. It will be featured at the NAMM show this Jan. He is using Madrone burl from my private stock. The bass will also be made of a new body style that I think playes are going to go wild for.

I like the more traditional lines of his “Lion’s Pride” basses, but with the CRAZY woods for tops and headstocks. I’d love to own a 4 string Skjold Lions Pride with that fat multi-coil pickup he uses. Would be great in a rock band context. Oh yeah, and check out Kevin Brubaker as well…forgot about him when listing luthiers known for their exotic topped basses.
