Well I finally got to mounting my extension wing to my new t/s tonight. Just your basic extension wing nothing fancy at all. Fir for the frame, MDF with white laminate for the top but joint construction.
Mounting it was a real bear by myself so I decided to RTFM (Read The Funny Manual) and what you know, instructions that made it a breeze. As usual I was way over complicating a fairly straight forward process. The manual says to mount the legs first. Okay, why not?
So to mount the legs, I made a rough measurement from the floor to the top of the t/s table and mounted the legs to the underside of the wing. Yes I used my new outfeed table as an assembly table! You need the measurement so you have a rough idea where the levelers on the wing should be. Then I flipped it over, stuck it on the side of the table, a couple of clamps to hold the wing tight against the t/s table and Bob’s Uncle there it was.
Shoot! I have to remove the fence rail! Grrr. I didn’t wont to have to do this. I’d finally gotten the tape to measure just about where it should. Such is life. Off you come.
Then I drilled (3) 1/4” holes per side along the side of the wing through the fence mounting rails. 1/4”-20 screws, fender and lock washers and was done. Only thing left was to fine tune the fit with the rest of the table, remount the fence rail and re-parallel (is that really a word? ) the fence to the miter slot.
All and all not a bad way to spend an hour in the shop tonight.

Your going to love this saw, I had one for about four years and it was a real work horse. The Biesemeyer fence is very accurate and a breeze to use. Locate the two alan set screw on the fence. These two set screw are the fine tuning ajustment for the fence, toe in toe out. Bye adjusting you can remove any burning caused by a out of alignment fence. I’m a huge fan of this style of fence its so user friendly and needs little attention and maintenance once set. Have a great time using your new saw and most important stay safe….Blkcherry

Sorry—An hour to mount. There’s probably 4-5 hrs total in the wing. I also got a new planer that I used to plane the fir square so there’s a lot of extra “play and experiment time” in it also.

Hey Chunk:
I too have a new UniSaw, and like blackberry said, you’re gonna love it. Mine’s a 5 hp with the Biesemeyer, and this things a beast. I’ve been using mine all day to cut parts for a table. Takes a lickin’, and keeps on tickin’. Have fun with your new toy!!

Great job! I love making things for the shop. Sometimes I get to making stuff for the shop and have to remind myself that I need to stop and make an actual project that is not something for the shop.
