Mahogany plate

I was given a small square piece of mahogany. Too small really to do much with and almost cut it into pen blanks but then decided to try my first square turning into a small plate/dish. First thing I noticed that this wood splinters a lot. Next thing I noticed is the corners disappear when it’s spinning and become remarkably efficient at finding knuckles. Broke a corner on a knuckle so I rounded the other corners to match. Decided not to match up the rest of my knuckles.

Yup. Ya gotta be keenly aware of those corners … THEY BITE !
