Every year we have a fund raiser for my music class where we sell homemade dog treats. If students sell enough bags of treats they win prizes like these drums. I construct the drum and they decorate it. They give it back to me and I put a head on it and we play! These drums are copies of a Sogo drum from Ghana, Africa.
The first drum is finished by the student with a crackle finish. The The second drum was made of plywood. As it was sanded for shaping the layers of the wood were revealed and the student decided to keep the look!
