This box was made for Colonel Patrick Looney USMC. His father was a Major General. Colonel Looney was my Commanding Officer at Weapons & Field Training Battalion from 2008-2012. He wanted a shadow box to put all his Dad’s memorabilia in and display it. This box set a record for me in time (it took me a long time), patience and nervousness. The flag is sewn in equal parts to bring the stars together so the box would be able to hang on the wall in a house and not a museum. The stars are parallel with the bottom of the box as was the America Flag stars. The triangle at the bottom for the America Flag is in the center of the valley of the two stars above it. The rank is pretty close if not perfect in spacing at the top. I can’t remember what I used as the backing behind the flag to pin everything on with (cork, Styrofoam or soft plywood), but I did not want to glue anything to the flag. I used double-sided 3M tape for the patches. I ordered one the patches from a company so all the units would be a patch and not a sticker, which was all Col. Looney had for the one unit that didn’t exist any more. I engraved the glass with a dremel. I coved the outside of the box myself. It was the first time I ever did that. Col. Looney is a leaders leader and a great Commanding Officer. I’m sure his father was the same way. Semper Fi~

great way to display the retired serviceman’s decorations. every serviceman/woman should get something like this when they finish their career with the military as our show of appreciation for their daily sacrifice.

was this done for yourself or somebody else?
