Another box that had a little rest on the shelf and I decided to finish it this morning .
Maple sides with walnut lid trim ,mitre keys and feet and a beautiful piece of sepele veneer for the top panel .
Brass hinges and chain with a dark brown interior liner for bottom and tray .
Size is 10”W x 6 1/2” D x 4 1/4” H and finished with oil and wax polished to a satin sheen .
This one will go for charity and hopefully generate a nice donation .

Comments good or not always welcome and appreciated !

You got it, Klaus. It’s all in the details and fine craftsmanship. Lovely box ! The shelf will probably miss it ! :)

Best,

Serge

this is a compliment i swear… what i loath about your work is that you are so prolific, and the craftsmanship is so clean, and I neither have the time or current skills to do this on such a consistent basis…. aaargh it makes me so frustrated!

I like the box. Very nice. Every time you are making something new. I would have made the hinges a little smaller.

Klaus,

I’m sure it will bring in a large sum for the charity! Sort of reminds me of a modern temple?

OH yeah another Top Three! LOL! In addition to the 5 P’s of woodworking this one has hope and charity tied to it.

Very well done. What is the purpose of the woods on the back of the box around the hinges? Stops? Whatever they are for, they and all the other special touches make it very nice.

Nicely done and detailed klaus. I also ask the same question about the small blocks on the back. I see they meet up with the ones on the lid. I’m not a big fan of chains for the lids but sometimes they make a difference. Somehow I feel your trays look better than any of my boxes. They always look great and compliment your designs well. I will have to start taking notes again.

Thanks Charles
Just a little different look with different and new details .

Thanks Thomas
It’s always a good feeling to give and help it makes life better and I like the smiles .

Thanks Jay
Yes they are stops but I added the ball chain because it just seemed he lid open too far b ut in the end it added another little detail to the overall look .

Thanks Hoss
I am glad you had a look .

Thanks Dave
Yes They are stop blocks but I added the ball chain to keep the lid from opening less .
Yes trays have become one of my favorites in a box and I love making lift handles for them, give it go they add a lot to the interior appearance .
