This was my first time working with mahogany and there are a couple things I discovered:

1) It’s a beautiful wood. I tried ammonia fuming for the first time and liked how rich the wood turned out.
2) It tastes horrible. Nasty. Bitter. Blech.
3) It’s a thirsty wood. It took a couple coats of stain where it would just suck it all in. Started to make me nervous as this is a V-Day gift for my fiancĂ©.

Nice work! Mahogany is 1 of my favorites. Easy as bebop a rebop rhubarb pie ?

Nice looking towel rack. I wish there was more mahogany available locally for me to work with.

Your title itself brings back memories of Lake Wobegon. I will have to look that show up on the internet and see if it is still running.
