As part of a suite of furnishings for the entrance lobby in a large commercial building I built this long curved sitting bench this week. The specifications required all reclaimed , locally hand crafted , and the ability to provide chain of custody proof . I used fire killed black oak (2 inches thick ) and urban lumber eucalyptus splines (5/8 thick ). The other interesting thing is that this entire piece is being shipped in sections no longer than a couple of feet each for assembly at site by someone else . Getting all those joints to register was fun -

Hey Rob, show us a pic upon installation, if possible.

Bradford , a large percentage of what I do I never see installed .My doors , my floors, my furniture, my mill – work – just leaves pretty much the day I complete the order. I seldom if ever leave the shop and do most business with E-communication .I could post a lot more pics as well as more projects , but it just isn’t in the cards. Heck , next week I’m on a project I can’t even talk about let alone take pics of .

You work is impressive but your equipment is jaw-dropping, where did you find your jointer, did you do a research in google for spaceship or aircraft carrier ?

Thanks for the comments.
Dan, These particular door photos were from a file on a bid package we did, that I never built for those folks. I have spoken with my webmaster this afternoon and asked him to remove them from the site.
However, if you are interested in this style I can surely spin you up a set of doors like this or work with you on something similar. Just how big is your castle?
On the jointer, both SCM and Martin currently offer 20” jointers with a 10’ bed. There are also some select old iron big boys floating around as well; you just have to look. Did you notice the power feeder swung to the side in this pic? If you ever use one, you’ll love it. The only reason I ever manually push a board is the initial pass to establish 2 point registration on a particularly warped or twisted board. After that, you just throw it to the feeder and it comes out flat.

20 in by 10 foot. I knew that combination machines was the new thrill but I had never heard so far about a jointer/workbench combo !
All jokes asides, that beast is really impressive and with a power feeder that’s sweet.
thanks for sharing

A great looking bench. And some nice tools to make them.
