Made this shadow box for my friends retirement. Was a lot more work than I anticipated. The box joints were made with a single blade on my table saw. I did however build a jig that worked like a charm. I learned a lot from this build and will probably make a few more. The box is all Hickory, and the tray and flag display are 1/2 Aspen.

don’t know how you got 5 stars to show on the bottom row, I can only get 4. GREAT JOB it looks really good

Thanks. It did take some fidgeting of the fold to get it just right. I don’t think there is an exact standard to the flags though. Different companies have different specs and a 5×8 from one might be different than a 5×8 from another.

The flag that the VA gives out to the family of the veteran are 5 X 9 1/2. If you used a 5 X 8 then that explains how you got the 5 stars. Getting the stars straight is another challenge.

Cool. To avoid posting sideways pictures, take all your pictures in landscape mode. The site can’t handle portrait mode very well.
