I make a simpler version of these boxes on commission for a photographer, but this one was a gift that I tried to get a little fancy with. Like many of us who do woodwork, trying out some Greene & Greene details is irresistible. If you’re not challenging yourself, you’re not learning :)

Looks great very nicely done. Is that a veneer on the top panels?

It is a veneer, although honestly I don’t even know what type of wood. I had it laying around for many years and finally had this project to use it on.

Great adaptation of G & G design. I would like to try this with a box design someday.

This is a beautiful piece. Is that mahogany? Would love to see more pictures if you have them.
