I made this oak bench in 2008. It’s great for putting in the bathroom or at the end of a bed for a dressing bench. It also works great in the hallway with a coat rack for putting on your shoes. This is the first bench I made and liked it so much I’ve made several more just like it. The latest one I should finish sometime today or tomorrow. It’s made from a solid cherry slab with natural edges. All it lacks is a final sanding and several coats of tung oil.
My shop buddy is a 2 (1 year old in the photo) year old miniature Schnauzer. Callie lets me know if anyone is near the front door or the phone is ringing. She’s much louder than a router motor.

Very nice looking bench and you are lucky to have a shop buddy. Mine doesn’t like the noises so she stays at the top of the stairs waiting for me to come back up into the house.

Great bench. If that grain is PRE- tung oil … then that’s really going to be sharp.
How does the Schnauzer do in terms of dust collection?? Up there with a Delta, but harder to empty?

Very nice bench. I think your assistant is adorable. I have 3 wanna be assistants. They constantly try and lay in the shop when the door is open. It’s cooler in there. Since I have very little free floor space and one of them is a lab, I shoo them to the decking just outside the door.

In WW speak that would be a “bench dog” I suppose…
