This small chest was made for my sister Nancy with wood leftover from the construction of the container that holds my parents ashes. I loved working with South American Purpleheart. It’s such beautiful wood it only requires a clear finish to give it that rich plum color. I like making the hand cut dovetails on box and base. The lock mortise was a little tricky. I wasn’t used to working with such hard wood but the results are definitly worth the effort.
