Using wood harvested from a fallen gum tree hit by lightning I decided to try a larger bowl than I have attempted before and also try to keep the irregular rim. of course this was not recommended for a beginner but I like a challenge and managed to get a fair result given the imbalance on the lathe.
I used an oscillating spiindle sander to finish off the edge and the only finish is bees wax and a little boiled linseed oil.

Very nice. I really like the irregular rim, It turns it from just a bowl to a piece of art!! I would like to drop by for a lesson also but you are a little too far away. maybe someday.

David, That’s a great piece. You have a lot more nerve then I do when it comes to the lathe. Beautiful work!
