I recently completed a blog that detailed how I turned this piece from start to finish – you can find the blog here:
http://lumberjocks.com/jeffthewoodwacker/blog/11277. This is a walnut hollow form that is almost 10 inches in diameter and 9 inches tall. To give this a different look it is turned from side grain. What was the bark side is the top and the heartwood is the base. The wall thickness is 3/8” thick. I applied several coats of clear gloss wipe on poly as finish.

jeffthewoodwacker,
Wonderfull job. I really enjoyed the blog that went with it as well. Could we see a picture of the laser mounted on the tool you used in the blog area maybe? Have you already polished it with the Beal system? Congratulations on a most beautiful turning!
Sincerely,
Ken McGinnis

Very nice turning. The grain orientation really worked well on this piece. Well done.

Fantastic turning! Love the grain pattern in this. It looks like you stirred chocolat and vannila pudding together. haha
Fantastic design, shape and finish also. All around supurb job!
Keep it up.
