A gun rack made for my step dad’s birthday. He’s an avid hunter and is currently in British Columbia hot on the trail of a moose. Materials used are wenge and oak, joinery is mortise and tenon and the finish is wipe on poly.

Nice Rack, I’m sure your step father will appreciate it greatly.

I’d make me one of those, but it would have to go inside my gun safe….....cause where I live, they’ll breakin and steal the guns and the rack.

-- Doug, New Mexico.......the only stupid question is one that is never asked!........don't fix it, if it ain't broke!

Not being a gun person I have no use for this rack but I do admire the workmanship that went into it.

You could also use it to store fishing poles, if that’s more your style…

Thanks all!

I’m not a gun person either. The rack is meant to hold a pellet gun (for the gopher problem) and a shot gun near their back door. My step dad’s been a county sheriff for going on 20 years now, and although he hunts quite often he has unfortunately had to make a few two legged enemies in that time as well. He also has a floor safe for his work equipment and hunting rifles.

mtkate: I was actually going to make a second one of these for myself to hold a few fishing rods, but I read that it’s better for the rod to store it vertically. I think I’ll adopt the same woods in a similar design meant to sit on the floor.

You don’t have to be a gun person to enjoy the workmanship….and that is a very nice piece of work….you could also use if for a hat and coat rack or for umbrellas…if that was more to style….I keep a few guns around for very unpopular/uninvited guests of either the animal or human animal gender….I just dont keep them in plain sight for safety reasons…

I agree with everyone else 100% ... you should be proud of yourself on this one.
