White Cedar Playset

Project by broncbuzzsaw posted 48 days ago 350 views 1 time favorited 7 comments Add to Favorites Watch

My son had been asking for a playset since last year. I finally took the plunge and designed one over the winter, building it over the course of the summer.

It is made from some locally sourced Northern White Cedar. Construction was done using mortise and tenon joinery and is basically a post and beam design.

It has a vertical rock climbing wall as well as an angled rock wall, a slide and a ramp to get up into it. I may add a roof next year as well as a smaller tower and beams to allow for some swings.

All corners were rounded over to create a safe environment for the kids.

I can’t wait to see what your son ask for next! Great job and I’m sure he’s thrilled.

I agree with ZachM. I helped a friend with a store bought one and the store bought ones are really for the people who don’t have the skill or the time to make one from scratch.

Nice job, Where did you get the slide? Was it expensive? I’m building a castle for my daughter and looking for a slide.

Slide came from Lowe’s. It was less than $200. Make sure you build the deck height to one of the standard heights, this one is 5’. You can also find slides online at varying prices, but the shipping costs can get up there.

Thanks everyone.
