and one begat two.

since my last post I’ve sold a few more rings, new ones (new sizes) off the one’s I’ve posted on Etsy.
This pair I made last month for a couple from church, who renewed their vows on the beach in Maine a few weeks ago.

Both rings are cut from the same glue up, so are nearly identical in grain pattern and color. Finished with sanding sealer then a bath in walnut oil. This seems to keep the rings from darkening as much from just an oil finish. Cocobolo can be sanded really smooth and buffed using its own oils (as I did with a bottle stopper) but as some people react to these tropical exotics, (I really noticed an effect from the sanding dust the first time, and have since always used a respirator), additional protection for something wearable seemed in order.

To say they were beyond thrilled with these rings would be putting it mildly.

Very interesting and well done.
If you up size them to about 1 1/2” in diameter you could make matching napkin rings, which at first glance is what I thought they were….until I saw the coins. Napkin rings make great Xmas gifts.

Beautifull rings! Love the color combos.

Keep it up.

Got an order for another one of these babies this weekend… Now, i’m in the process of making up a few extra blanks, just waiting to be sized!
