Ok so some of you may have seen my blog about a prototype for this. The nice box is shown here. I made it out of a block of Leopardwood that I picked up at Woodcraft. Since I do not have a bandsaw I used the miter saw to saw off a piece for the lid. I was able to use my drill press with a Forstner bit and my chisels to make the interior. I used my benchtop sander and a lot more sandpaper to round over the edges some.
The finish is a clear coat by General Finishes (those Painter’s Pyramids were a great investment). I decide to flock the inside and bought some gear to do that. The box held a pair of ruby earrings in order to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Had a great weekend in VA Beach to celebrate and she loves the box and earrings.
I have another chunk of wood I bought (African Mahagony) and looking forward to turning that into a small box for my daughter. Maybe a few others for some Christmas gifts, too.
Thanks for looking, talk to everyone soon.

A beautiful gift, well constructed.
I’m envious. I’m really just beginning at ww. Anything I built for my lovely wife, at this point, would send a message that said … I tolerate you ;-)
I have to wait until I can do better.
Happy Anniversary!
