I made this keepsake box for my mother for Christmas. It is made from alder and purple heart. The legs are mortise and tenon and create a cool shadow line at the bottom. The lid was made by cutting 3/4 strips and gluing them together. then I cut them the other way and glued them into the checker pattern you see. The same way you would make an end grain cutting board but without flipping the pieces on their side. I then made splines and a lift from the off cuts to strengthen then corners of the lid. Navy blue felt on the bottom of the box. The box has a 3d look to it in person. Thanks for looking and be sure to check my youtube channel Katz-Moses Woodworking for a video on this project and more like it.
