My wife asked me to make some seam rippers from Penn State Industries kits. I did those, some back scratchers, more seam rippers, and then some pens. I started cutting up interesting scrap to see what I had for pen blanks. I quickly had over 100. I had fun setting up my lathe area in my retirement shop. The nova DVR makes a great pen lathe!!! I turned a small box with a lid and some tool handles. Now, I need to refocus on making boxes. These need to be sanded on the inside and then glued together. I have 12 or so here, 15 that need bottoms fitted, and about 15 that have not been cut, but are marked for cutting.

Looks like you are busy, I always have 10 to 20 boxes going, half done, or needing touch up. Seam rippers look fun, all I need is another tool, well maybe….

Robert, Good to see you are enjoying your retirement and still creating beautiful projects. Did the llama make the move to Oregon?

Andy, retirement is very good!! My wife made the move, but not the Llama. He died during a really hot spell a few years ago. But all of my wood made it safely. Alas, much of it has been used. I am going on a wood run tomorrow to Salem. You should Check out Craigslist salem oregon materials. Scroll until you see a guy selling figured wood. That is where I am going.

Good luck with the wood hunting. You always come up with the most amazing finds. I have a tiny piece of that curly Doug Fir you sent me just to stump my friends with.
