Another project of my two favorite hobbies combined. Woodworking and leatherworking have been in my shop since I was in grade school. This was made for a Granddaughter for all of her treasures.

Made with oak and stained a dark cherry. Leather was tooled and fitted into a deep dado and glued to the plywood box top. Peel and stick velvet from Rockler and an oval mirror on the inside

As always comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

I use to do leather work also, still have all my tools but haven’t done any for many years. Beautiful work, your granddaughter should love it for many years to come.

I have some leather and make boxes. I like your use of the leather as veneer inset of top panel. I’ll try the same as a compliment.

Great looking treasure box—I really like having the mirror in the lid! I’m sure she’ll keep many of her treasures here for safekeeping!

Thanks for all the comments. Have to give Jamie the credit for the design and the mirror. I don’t get time to do as much leather tooling as I used to but it is fun to be able to incorporate it in a project.
