I have been looking at trying my hand at segmented turning for a little bit, so I thought I’d give it a try. I cut the wedges at a 30 degree angle, 12 wedges per ring. I made a wedgie sled to make the cuts. Thank you “rockmolsen” for posting your sled, and for posting the site where I got the plans to make my own. http://segeasy.com/index.html
This was just a test piece so I just used scrap 2×4 pine but it turned out better than I thought it would so I made a top to finish it off. The top is more pine with a Purple Heart knob.

I like it too, congratulations on a great job.
Thanks for sharing.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

Not shabby at all for a first. Nice work with the red top. I really like the pine.

Nice work, one doesn’t need expensive wood to make an impressive project, design is right up there.

It’s shaped kinda like an apple, innit, Blue? Apropos of the comments above regarding addiction: Many an evil began with an apple. You’ve begun with an apple, my Beloved Buddy. Tread lightly as thou sally forth.

Thanks for all the love.
CFrye: The center of the bottom is just a dowel.
Mark: I’ll be OK as long as I don’t eat it….. It does look tasty though
