Needed a better spot to store my growing saw collection. I got a 1”x8”x12’ mystery White wood board from HD.
This project was start to finish with no power tools. I cut the parts to size then layed out for the case dovetails. Those went without a problem, so I cut the stopped dado for the cross piece. No worries there either. Then I tried to cut the dovetails in in the front for the handle support cross brace. Well, stink. This stuff was so soft and mushy, when I tried to leave a small pin, it wasn’t strong enough. The pin snapped during assembly. Panic mode sets in, and just slap it together and get it square… Live and learn.
Attached a quick 1/4 piece of ply to the back, planed everything flush and smooth. Finished with BLO, and hung it up.
Works great, and has an extra place for my special planes that don’t need to stay on my bench.
Thanks for looking.
