Contempo Murphy Wall Bed

Project by Chris Davis posted 51 days ago 322 views 1 time favorited 4 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is a new style. I call it the Contempo. It is a modification from the Alpine murphy bed. I started with the Alpine and moved the legs to the outside, similar to the Ross and Excalibur murphy beds. It is a real clean and contemporary version. This first one was completed in September 2009.

Here’s the raw video of the build:

Here are some of the building pictures:

I was just showing my wife something like this in a Rockler hardware catalog. The hinges for the bed are about 269.00 per set, I thought that seemed like a lot. Is that reasonable, or do you know of a placd where I can get hardware for a Murphy bed for less? Something like this could definitely be on my project list. Love the lights!

I use that same hardware. $269 is cheap. You can buy it direct from the manufacturer for $299. I buy in bulk and usually sell it myself for $299 (shipping included). If you want to buy it from me email me, I’ll make you a good deal. chris@wwbeds.com.

I did see that the other day in Rockler Pro catalog. I couldn’t tell if the plans came with it or not. I’ll give you the plans and DVD for the bed and some additional plans for a bookcase and how to dress the front up with some moldings.
