A friend asked if I could/would make him a gun rack for display on his fireplace mantle and this is what I came up with. The rifle has an octagon barrel so I chamfered the edges to match. The wood I used was Sapele and I finished it with a boiled linseed oil, wipe-on poly, mineral spirits mixture.

Very cool.
If this is going to be displayed up high on a fireplace mantle you may have wanted to tip up the bullet display more…..like at a 75 degree angle or the bullets won’t be seen….......and that is a really cool feature of the display.
Or even at a 90 degree angle (perpendicular to the base) but then you would have to find a way to keep the bullets in place (a little CA on the back perhaps if you never intend on using those bullets )

Wow, that is way cool. The rack you made for it is really nice, too.

;-) Just messing around. Nice work.

I didn’t even think about the angle of the bullet display. Thanks for the input Mike. I’ll have to keep that in mind if I get a chance to make another one.

Have your say...
