This is the first entertainment center that I built (before the flat screen). This was also an earlier project with alot of room for improvement, but it served it’s purpose. I made this because we had moved into the new house and were expecting company (we had planned a party) and the tv was just sitting there in the middle of a huge blank wall with a sofa table next to it with all of our components on it and wires and boxes of dvds, cords and remotes everywhere. So I had to do something quick so I threw this thing together on a saturday afternoon from the scraps from my grandma’s kitchen cabinets. It remained unfinished for a couple of months, after which I finished it with Minwax’s bombay mahogany stain/poly blend. I had a terrible experience with this stuff and would not use it again. But over the years that I had this piece in my home, I received many compliments so I guess you could say that this is another case of being my own worst critic.
After making the new entertainment center, this piece has found a happy home at a good friend’s house. He is extremely happy with it.

emetric, looks very nice. I’m fixxing to start building an entertainment center for my 58” rear projection screen, and have been looking around at ideas. You have a couple of ideas here that I’d maybe like to use, if you don’t mind. I like the open shelves as opposed to glass doors. I have a 6-way surround sound, and many components. Simple, stylistic, and functional. That’s what this is, and that’s what I’m after. Thanks for post
