The pen case featured here was born out of a new friendship I gained this August. While on a cruise I met a woman from Quebec who mentioned that she collects writing pens of all kinds. I mentioned that my dad turns pens and I am a box maker. So, I offered to get a pen from my dad and build a case for it to send to her.
How convenient that her favorite color is purple! It allowed me to work with one of my favorite woods, purpleheart, and to use it in my favorite combination, purpleheart and maple. The pen body is turned from acrylic. So, my new friend now has two original creations from two woodworkers in the same family.
BTW, I hope no one has the same experience I did shipping the darned thing internationally. What a nightmare for the uninitiated!

Great pen case and great pen. Nice use of Maple accent to highlight the Purpleheart.
