curly koa and african mahogany jewelry box, sides were cut at 3 degrees and feet were cut at 5 degrees both directions, i used a no.9 lie nielson miterplane and shooting board for both angled and 90 degree cuts, the top edge inlay was endgrain quarter sawn african mahogany and one piece of curly koa bandsawn into 4 1/8 inch pieces bookmatched then layed end to end to create the top, the front was 2 pieces 1/8 inch curly koa bookmatched then inlayed into the front the sides single pieces of koa inlaid. i then used a lie nielson dovetail saw for the dovetails. now the box being at 3 degrees needed to be flattend to 90 degrees on the top so i contact cemented 4 shheets of 120 sand papper to a piece of mdf then turned the box upside down and flattend the bottom side of the top then the top side of the bottom then set up a router to create the dust lip inside. i also sanded the 4 bottom corners the same way and applied the feet in koa sanded to 600 grit then shot with semigloss laquer. there was a little more to it all then that but thats the basics. i spent a total of about 80 hours
