This is a burlwood skull that I hand carved out of maple burlwood. I have made several of these Dame type of skulls and make then in several different sizes and colors. I recently began hinging the jaws and think it’s a cool effect. Any thoughts or suggestions. Please take it easy im new to woodworking :).

Pretty neat! You’ve got a lot of detail for such a small carving and the hinged jaw is a neat idea. You might try some with smaller gaps between the teeth, not cutting all the way through? I’ve used some leftover Halloween decorations as models before also. I hope to see more of your work!
