Not likely you’ve seen many of these! It was very simple to make.
I’ve wanted to make a trailer hitch cover for a while. None of the ones I’ve ever seen for sale are very interesting.
The Phoenix rising from the ashes has personal significance for me.
The 2” square shaft is made of a couple of hunks of 2×4 The face is laser-engraved cherry. The frame is walnut. Again, all the wood is from the scrap bin. I used some dowels to attach the face to the shaft to get plenty of strength for the less-than-friendlies who might want to kick it.
Including the walnut frame, it’s about 4” x 4”.
4 coats of Helmsman – especially on the bolt hole and the shaft and the back of the graphic – all parts that might hold rainwater.

At least it’s not hanging balls.
Some more great flames. Nice job.

Nice work, looks almost like the Ruger Logo.
Karson, every time I see those, I’d like to snip them off. Had a lot of experience growing up on tteh farm :-))

I too have been wanting to make me a hitch cover, but time is a premium. Plus my list of projects for others takes precedence…. ;-)
Very nice job – Yours turned out very well.
Thanks for sharing !
