Veneer Hammer

I really love Old Brown Glue and have replaced almost all my yellow glue jobs with it. Now I have started to get acquainted with hot hide glue and I like the same versatility of OBG. I was planning on just buying a veneer hammer but after seeing the beautiful hammers made by Luke Addington I thought I would give it a try making one. I had a nice piece of walnut scrap and some curly ash.

I used the basic design based off of the hammer made by Luke A. and the plans by Tom Fidgin from The Unpluged Woodshop. My turning skills are very limited and that nasty piece of walnut really put them to the test. It is finished with Waterlox and I’m happy with the end result, now its just a matter of getting some experience with the hot hide glue and some veneer.

Very nice hammer. It’s on my bucket list to make one of these. I follow Tom also, and enjoy his work. Great build. Thanks for posting as I’ve added to my favorites tab.

Thinking about taking the dive and going old brown/ HHG for all my indoor stuff. I hate glue stains.

Well done Paul, a very nice looking hammer.
It will serve you well.
I just love to see people turning to hide glues, especially HHG.
