I’ve finally got around to making a you tube video. I didn’t know anything about camera angles and editing, so it was quite a learning process. In the video I tried my best to explain the process that I used to turn this bowl from a log. Here is the link if anyone is interested.

I think that’s the first pear bowl I’ve seen Blake. Good video, I like a tenon rather than a recess for the chuck for the reason you mention.

nice bowl, looks like the ones I just posted a few days ago, same color and shape but made from the dark center of a birch log. The container that I posted was from pear from what I can remember. I will watch your video, I want to figure out how to post a video of my homemade lathe in operation

Posting a video is pretty easy, i did a bunch of editing to make it a bit shorter. I wouldn’t suppose that a whole lot of video editing is required for just showing of a homemade lathe (that sounds awesome). basically all you have to do is have an email that you can create a simple YouTube page with. your bowls look pretty good i turned some more from the same log.
