Hi all, it’s good to be back in the shop. I am still recovering from some major surgery, and haven’t really been in the shop much since March. Anyway, here is a Walnut Bowl, approx 14” dia by 3 3/4” high. My goal with the piece was to have part of the piece be asymmetrical, since the blank went very oval while drying. So, I rounded the rim and the interior, but put in very rough grooves that are dyed black. The highly polished interior is a contrast to the roughened grooves. The reverse side I made very rough, with grooves intended to look like pottery. I ebonized the back to enhance the effect. My wife claimed it, so it won’t go to the gallery!
