My latest box that I started last year but needed some shelf time as I was not too happy with it and also very busy with other more important things .
The design addition of the added legs gave it a more balanced and lower look and solved the problem .
The box is made from local maple and American walnut which is getting hard to find and also expensive .
I used two different patterns (pyramid and diamond ) on this box which I think gave a more interesting look .
The hinges are leather and the interior is lined with red velvet cloth sewn to a poster board backing .
The finish is BLO and bees wax polished to a satin finish .
The size is 10 1/2 W x 8 D x 4 1/2 H .
I have done a couple of project posts on how I cut the pyramid and diamond pattern and you can find them in my recent posts .

Comments very welcome as they always help .

Very cool Klaus, the pyramids and diamonds make this box a real standout.

Klaus nice … I like what you did with the legs… do we have one of your fancy jigs for those as well? :)

Nicely done Klaus. I normally hate legs, but these are really nice. The details are very subtle and all work together seamlessly. I like it a lot.

Excellent. The shelf time DID this creation wonders! Love the legs on this. It really makes it very regal looking. Nice job all the way around.

Klaus, another great looking box. The legs just flow. The leg tops/bottoms just blend in with their edge treatment. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all for the kind comments which I always appreciate .
The additional leg treatment made this box look as it should and no there is no fancy jig to make them with just a folded poster board template and band saw followed by spoke shave and sanding .
RogerBean, jaykaypurand Horky echo my feeing very much it’s the legs that make it .
Sometimes it just takes a bit of shelf time to finish a design just like a good wine .

All been said Klaus, but all true and another beauty in the line.
Put me down for agreeing about the legs…. very nice.

Each new box is even more impressive than the next! I like the Asian look of it, and love those legs!

Studying the first picture head on I can see the nice detail of the legs meeting with the offset of the top. Looks like it was made to be that way. I can see why it was on the shelf. Of course the rest of the box isn’t shabby either. The red velvet compliments it also. Nicely done Klaus.
