This container I think my love for woodwork and turning is where it all began. Around 60 years ago my uncle gave me this lathed container, I have kept it ever since. From there I guess I made a decision to become a shop teacher.
My first love is wood turning but I do all aspects of wood working, Did mainly metal work and mechanics teaching in school.
These bowls are made from birch from my won wood supply, not spectacular but I enjoy making chip fly when using my home mad lathe, cheap wood supply and I do it for the enjoyment of turning. would like to have the time to do the spectacular turning that I see done on LJ’s. Segmented etc.
When I am not in the shop I am enjoying the outdoors crss country skiing.

Great Picture—Great Bowls!

The winter is pretty; but the arthritis and it do not function well together! Hope you have a great winter!

I will remain hiding in the warmth of the recliner, I am afraid!

Brian the container looks like it could have been made today! Nice bowls, especially the white one, I haven’t come across wood like that.

The bowls are very nice Brian….
I’m not a turner but can appreciate that skill & craftsmanship to creat a beautiful wooden bowl or other item from a lump of timber….
On the “cross country skiing”, all yours sir, way to much snow and too, too cold for a bloke from Down Under…
PS – I do like the photo of the snow….

Love them Brian,

I would love to see snow like that, but I’m sure that the fascination would only last a few minutes.
Too damn cold for me.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

That is a beautiful container for sure. I’m sure that it is also a precious heirloom.
