Flip my Lid

Project by jeffthewoodwacker posted 61 days ago 324 views 1 time favorited 6 comments Add to Favorites Watch

The box is spalted ambrosia maple. It is 9 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter. Wall thickness is 3/16”. This was sanded to 400 grit and then a coat of Deft Satin brush on lacquer followed by 4 coats of Deft clear gloss brush on lacquer. I used 600 grit wet paper to sand the last coat of finish in. The lid is purpleheart, snakewood, turquoise inlace and a piece of blue acrylic left over from a pen project. The lid is 3 inches tall. I hand chased internal threads on the box and external threads on the lid so it screws on. This box will be used as a cremation urn, at which time the lid will be epoxied onto the body.

Keep it up.
