This is the first of many bird houses I have to build. I went to the local home and garden centers and looked at their offering and after wrestling one open we already had to clean it out, I came up with a little something different.
The floor of this bird house as well as drawings I have made of others is hinged. The two small perches are free floating pins. When you pull the bottom perches the floor drops open. Just in case it may get stuck I have included a small screw to help pull it open.
Enjoy!

Nice, Don! I always look at birdhouse posts as when I was setting up my shop my father asked, “How many birdhouses do you think you’re going to make?” To date, none. However, I’m threatening! Nice offering!

Funny. Looking back over all the things I have ever made, people houses, livestock houses, tool houses, etc., I don’t recall having built a bird house before today.

Thanks John! These that I am building are far from the mansions you are building. Some place down the road I may have to try a mutli family dwelling. Yours are certainly awesome.
